Where are you a trainee?
I am part of the 2018-2019 Trainee Program for the Purchasing team within European Supply Chain, working from Zaandijk, the Netherlands.
What made you apply for a role with AAK?
Nutrition and food industry has always been an interest of mine. When I saw the application on LinkedIn, I immediately applied. When I finally was in the selection round I knew I had to fight for this position, because the people at AAK are so motivating and inspiring you just want to work for them.
What does a typical day at AAK look like?
In the morning I have a look at my projects and according to this I make a to do list for the day and next coming days. As always, a day never works out how you planned it to be so be prepared to be flexible and take every chance you can get.
What is your biggest professional challenge?
Finding out what you really like and what triggers you every day to keep up the good work. Every week I learn something new that could change my 5-year plan. The biggest challenge for me is to keep up with all the things I would like to achieve.
What would be your best advice to trainees looking for a good start to their careers?
Be yourself, because AAK is looking for employees that are the perfect match for the position. Regardless if you apply at AAK or not, a trainee program is an amazing way to get to know a company, learn to network and expand your strategic thinking.
What are your interests?
Being outdoor, climbing and other sports. I love playing the piano and I never miss a social activity.
What is the coolest thing you have done?
Travelling around Norway with a tent and a car. Hiking up the mountains and surfing in the freezing Nordic Sea.
What do you always carry with you – and why?
My phone – mainly to stay in contact and network whenever necessary. And it’s very useful for quick notes or voice memos.
