AAK has joined the latest edition of the Next Generation Pet Food Program as an industry collaborator alongside Bühler Group, Givaudan and Ingredion. Led by Big Idea Ventures and Mars Petcare, the global initiative focuses on accelerating innovation in pet nutrition.

Launched on May 12, 2026, the program brings together companies across food technology, ingredients, and pet care to support startups developing alternative proteins, fats, oils, and other novel ingredients for the pet food industry.

As part of the collaboration, AAK contributes expertise in fats, oils, ingredient functionality, and product development, while supporting startups through workshops, technical guidance, and collaboration with experts across pet nutrition and ingredient innovation.

“At AAK we see a unique opportunity to bridge human food expertise and pet nutrition to improve animal well-being. By focusing on functional ingredients that support digestion, immunity, and overall vitality, this program helps scale innovations that are nutritious & sustainable,” emphasizes Niall Sands, President Commercial Development and Innovation.

The 2026 edition puts a stronger focus on the Asia-Pacific region, reflecting the region’s growing importance in food innovation and pet nutrition. Selected startups will have the opportunity to present their concepts at the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit in Singapore.
