AAK expands Hastings site to strengthen future operations

Site upgrade improves safety, efficiency, and sustainability at the UK facility

We're proud to announce the opening of a major expansion of our Hastings facility – a project designed to boost capacity, improve safety, cut carbon and future-proof our operations for years to come.

Thanks to smart planning, strategic investment, and a brilliant collaboration with Dawson Group, we've transformed the way we store chilled and frozen goods on-site. The new temperature-controlled facility combines four chambers across two buildings with:

•    Over 300 frozen pallet spaces
•    220+ chilled spaces
•    Safer forklift access
•    Improved cooling and food safety

This means:
•    95% reduction in forklift crossings
•    86 tonnes of CO₂ saved annually
•    10 years of storage capacity secured

Johan Westman, CEO:
"This is a strong commitment to our future, our people, and our planet – and I couldn’t be prouder of what the team has delivered."

Tomas Bergendahl, CFO:
"A solid investment that improves efficiency, reduces costs, and drives down emissions – it’s a win on every level."

Vivienne Carney, Director Global Foodservice:
"This project solves long-standing challenges and sets the site up for long-term success. Huge credit to the team for making it happen."

Shaun Noakes, Site Director said:
“For the Hastings team, this is a real game-changer. The improved layout, safety and storage capacity will make a huge difference to daily operations and create a safer, more efficient environment for our colleagues.”
